Head - Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Umakant Yewale serves as the Head of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) at NLMK India.
He has over 19 years of experience in the steel, automobile, heavy engineering, chemical, and research industries, with a background in ESG, safety culture development, behavior-based safety (BBS), job safety analysis, emergency preparedness, integrated management systems (IMS), and HSE development for greenfield projects.
Umakant holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Nagpur University. He has also completed professional programs including NEBOSH-IGC, an Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety, and Six Sigma certification from IIT Delhi, and is certified in Construction HSE Management, BBS Management, and Disaster Management by CDP, UK.
In his current role at NLMK India, he is responsible for corporate HSE policies, embedding safety practices into manufacturing processes, enhancing safety culture, ensuring compliance, managing risks, and supporting ESG initiatives.
